sosSTEVIE / Legal
Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 27, 2026
This policy explains what information Steeplechase, LLC., doing business as sosSTEVIE (“sosSTEVIE”, “I”, “me”), collects through https://sosstevie.com and through client work, why, and what you can do about it. sosSTEVIE is a one-person website rescue, rebuild, search visibility and AI practice based in Florida, USA, run by Jacques.
Short version
- I collect what you choose to send me (contact form, email, phone, text, or the free Site Check and Page Check tools), plus standard security logs.
- No analytics, advertising pixels or tracking scripts run on this site at the time of writing.
- I don’t sell or rent your information, and I don’t use it for advertising.
- This site has no customer accounts, online checkout or comment sections.
1. Information you give me
Contact form
When you use the contact form I receive the details you enter (typically your name, email address, phone number if given, website address and your message). The form sends that information by email to jacques@sosstevie.com. Messages are delivered by email only and are not stored in the WordPress database.
Free Site Check
The free Site Check at https://sosstevie.com/site-check/ asks for a website address and your email address. To run it, you tick a box agreeing to receive occasional emails from me about keeping your website safe and visible in search. A second box, unticked unless you tick it, asks me to email you a PDF copy of your report. When you run a check I store:
- your email address;
- the website address you checked;
- a summary of the result (how many red, amber and green items it had);
- the date and time, and a record of the wording you agreed to and when you agreed;
- whether you asked for a PDF copy, and whether it was sent;
- a scrambled (hashed) form of your connection (IP) address, kept with that record as evidence of your consent.
Separately, to stop one visitor running unlimited checks or PDF requests, a hashed form of your IP address is held for up to 24 hours to count them. The tool reads only the public pages of the website you enter. It does not log in or change anything. Your report is always shown on screen as soon as it is ready; a finished report is cached for 10 minutes so a repeat check is instant.
A PDF copy is emailed only if you tick the second box. I make the PDF on my website (it contains the report, the website address you checked and the date) and send it once, as a single email from stevie@jacques.media, to the address you typed. The email carries my postal address and an unsubscribe link. The mail service that sends it keeps a log of the recipient address, the time, the subject line and whether it was sent. It keeps a count, for 24 hours, so the same address is not sent more than one PDF a day from each free tool. My websites do not keep a copy of the PDF after it is sent. Because you type your own address, please only enter your own: if someone enters an address that is not theirs, that address can get one PDF email, and the unsubscribe link in it stops anything further.
I use this information to show you your report, to email the PDF if you asked for it, to send you the occasional emails you agreed to and follow up about the check, and to keep the tool from being abused. Every marketing email I send includes a link to unsubscribe and my postal address. You can unsubscribe at any time at https://sosstevie.com/unsubscribe/.
I keep this information on my website host (GoDaddy), and a working copy on my own computer for sending the emails, until you ask me to delete it. When you unsubscribe I stop emailing you, including PDF copies, and I keep your email address on a do-not-contact list so I do not email you again. To have your details deleted, email jacques@sosstevie.com or call or text (754) 302-4631.
Free SEO & AI Search Page Check
The free SEO & AI Search Page Check at https://sosstevie.com/page-check/ works the same way as the Site Check above, with the same two boxes (the same agreement to occasional emails about keeping your website safe and visible in search, and an optional PDF copy) and the same email list. It asks for the address of one web page and your email address. When you run a check I store the same details as for the Site Check, plus the full address of the page you checked; the website address stored is that page’s domain.
The tool reads only that public page and a few small public files on the same website (robots.txt, the XML sitemap, llms.txt and the http:// version of the page address). It does not log in or change anything. The hashed abuse-limit counters (up to 24 hours), the 10-minute report cache, the optional PDF copy, unsubscribing and deletion all work as described above for the Site Check.
First-Hour Checklist download: when you request the checklist, I store your email address, the time you gave consent and a hashed (scrambled) version of your IP address, the same as the free tools. I use your email to send you the checklist and occasional tips about keeping your website safe and visible. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in any email.
Email, phone calls and text messages
If you email, call or text (754) 302-4631, I receive your phone number or email address, the content of your message and the time it was sent, through my email, phone and messaging providers. I use this only to respond to you and to provide services you ask for. I do not send marketing text messages. If I ever do, it will only be with your separate, express consent, and you can reply STOP to opt out.
Client engagements
When you hire me for a Site Rescue or other work, I may receive access to your website, hosting, domain, Google Search Console, Google Business Profile, analytics or other accounts, plus files, backups and logs. That can include personal information about your own customers. I use it only to do the work you engaged me for, keep access to what the job requires, and ask you to change or revoke credentials when the engagement ends.
Payments
Payments are processed by PayPal. PayPal handles your payment details under its own privacy statement. I receive confirmation of the payment (such as your name, email address and amount) but not your full card or bank details.
2. Information collected automatically
Security logging (Wordfence)
This site uses the Wordfence security plugin to protect against attacks. Wordfence records visitor IP addresses, browser user agent, the pages requested and timestamps, and may block or rate-limit suspicious traffic. Wordfence also checks IP addresses against threat intelligence provided by its developer, Defiant, Inc. (see Wordfence’s privacy policy). These logs are used only for security.
Hosting and server logs
This site is hosted by GoDaddy, which keeps standard server access logs (IP address, request, date and time, browser) for operation and security, under GoDaddy’s privacy policy.
Fonts
This site loads fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser fetches them, Google receives your IP address and browser information. See Google’s privacy policy.
Analytics
At the time of writing this site does not use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel or any similar analytics or advertising tracker. If that changes, this policy will be updated first. I do use Google Search Console, which reports aggregated search data (queries, impressions, clicks) and does not identify individual visitors to me.
3. Cookies
This site doesn’t set advertising or analytics cookies. WordPress and Wordfence may set strictly necessary cookies, for example for the site administrator’s login session or for security checks. Ordinary visitors don’t need to accept any cookie to use the site.
4. AI tools in client work
I use AI tools in my work (for example to help analyse code, logs and content, and to draft material I then review). I use business or API plans of mainstream AI assistants, with model training on my inputs switched off. Here’s how I handle that:
- I don’t paste passwords, API keys or other credentials into AI tools.
- Where practical, I remove or minimise personal information about you or your customers before using an AI tool.
- I use plans whose terms say my inputs are not used to train models, where available.
- A human (me) reviews AI output before it’s relied on or delivered.
See the AI policy for more detail. If you don’t want AI tools used on your material, tell me before the engagement starts.
5. How I use information
- To reply to enquiries and schedule calls.
- To provide, quote and invoice services.
- To keep this site and client sites secure.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
- To send you emails you have agreed to receive (for example after you tick the box on the Site Check or Page Check form), which you can stop at any time.
- To email you a PDF copy of your Site Check or Page Check report, only if you tick the box asking for it.
6. Who I share it with
I don’t sell, rent or trade personal information. I share it only with service providers who help me run the business (GoDaddy for hosting, PayPal for payments, and my email, phone, security and AI tool providers as described above), with specialists I bring in for your project and only with your agreement, or when required by law.
7. How long I keep it
- Enquiries that don’t become engagements: 12 months, then deleted.
- Client records and invoices: 7 years after the engagement ends, to meet tax and accounting rules.
- Client credentials and access: removed or handed back at the end of the engagement.
- Security logs: up to 90 days.
- Free Site Check and Page Check records (email, website address, for the Page Check the page address, result summary, whether you asked for a PDF copy, consent record): until you ask me to delete them. After you unsubscribe, your email address stays on a do-not-contact list so I do not email you again.
- Free Site Check and Page Check abuse-limit counters (hashed IP address, hashed email address for the PDF daily limit): up to 24 hours. The mail log of PDF emails (recipient, time, subject, status): kept with my other mail logs.
8. Security
I use reasonable safeguards: a hardened site, two-factor authentication on admin accounts, limited access and encrypted connections. No method is perfectly secure. If a breach affecting your personal information occurs, I will notify you as required by law, including the Florida Information Protection Act (Fla. Stat. ยง 501.171).
9. Your choices and rights
You can ask me to tell you what personal information I hold about you, correct it, or delete it (unless I must keep it for legal, tax or security reasons). Email jacques@sosstevie.com, or call or text (754) 302-4631. I’ll respond within a reasonable time. Residents of states with their own privacy laws may have additional rights, and I will honour valid requests.
10. Children
This site is for businesses and isn’t directed at children under 13. I don’t knowingly collect their information.
11. Links to other sites
Links to other websites are governed by those sites’ own privacy policies.
12. Governing law
sosSTEVIE operates in Florida and serves clients in the United States. This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Florida and applicable US federal law.
13. Changes
I’ll update this page when practices change and revise the effective date.
