Discovery

The design and development process for a website starts with your first call to me. There are a number of important considerations when it comes to a successful website design and the initial gathering of information is perhaps the most crucial of all. The purpose of this first step is for me to get a clear understanding of your business. This includes information on the purpose of the site. You want to provide information, promote a service, sell a product etc.

Planning

  • Goals: What do you hope to accomplish by building this web site?
  • Target Audience: Is there a specific group of people you need to target in order to reach your goals?
  • Content: What kind of content in terms of articles, images, logo do you already have?

Design

Based on the information gathered at this point, I start to work on the look and feel of the site.  The target audience and nature of your business will typically play a role in the design of your site. Elements such as your company logo or colors will be incorporated in the design in order to strengthen the branding of your site.

This is done on our development server, a secure area which will allow you to view your project throughout the development stages. It will also give you an opportunity to express your likes and dislikes of the design.

Testing and Delivery

Once you have approved the design of the website on our development server, we migrate the site over to your own hosting account.

At this point we fine tune the final details and test your website on a live server. We make sure that your website is compatible with all devices, including desktop and laptop computers, tablets and cell phones.

Depending on your budget, this is when we put more emphasis on search engine optimization.

Maintenance

The online business is an ever evolving process. WordPress and the various plugins we use to create your website are constantly updated and it is important, if not crucial in order to prevent security issues on your site to upgrade it as and when these updates are rolled out.

Some of our tech savvy customers feel comfortable with doing these upgrades themselves but if you want to spend your time running your business instead of worrying about what goes on under the hood, I will be more than happy to continue working with you in order to keep your website up to date.

SEO and Marketing

The success of any website largely depends on its number of visitors. It is important to note that qualified visitors, in other words potential customers of your goods and services are crucial to your business.

The typical entrepreneur, operating his or her website on a tight budget often neglect step 6.  The reason is purely financial because this kind of service is not free.

However, I do have various plans, from transforming your site into an authority site at a very reasonal monthly fee (the price of a family of 4 meal at your local restaurant) to more complex marketing methods.
